My name is Mitch Dorf; I am a Sound Mixer at POP Sound in Santa Monica

I think that consumers, uh, today are really starting to appreciate sound. take away the sound from the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan, completely different sequence. You know, the idea to be able to put the viewer inside of your visual image, pretty much can only be done by sound. We’re not wrapping -- we – we haven’t figured out a way to have uh, the a movies or, um, movie theatres or televisions to kinda give you a peripheral vision. So we do that through sound. To kind of get you experience of what’s going on with the image. Gives some sense – another sense of just drawing you into the image; of enveloping you. So, and obviously then once your inside then you’re mine.

You know, we can recreate in your living room the experience you had at a movie theatre, in fact, you might be able to create it even better especially now with your 60 inch TV’s and if you set up about 10 or 12 feet away, the ratio, in terms of what you’re viewing to your seat versus a theatre, pretty close. You know, if you have your system set up properly and you can now sit in a dead center seat and you didn’t have to go to the theatre an hour ahead of time to get a really nice seat, you know, you can experience a film or television show or piece of music unlike you’ve never been able to do before and if you take the time to, you know, set your system the way that it should be, uh, to experience that I think that’s a -- that’s a phenomenon and it’s something that is so unique and so wonderful to have right now.
